PayPal Scam

PayPal Scam. I wonder if they just mail every known address they can find.


Hey got this through the email!

The first thing I did was login to my Paypal account legitimately to see if there were any messages there. There weren't . Opened the attachment out of curiosity.

This was the form I had to fill in to get my email back!

Please do not go there. Felt quite comfortable that nothing was going to happen as I opened everything in a Linux Mint machine. My wife has also had a mystery caller purporting to be able to mend my Windoze 7  machine over the phone!  

Changing

Had to write stuff. Lots of changes going on. There is a growing number of visitors to the blogs. There are always interesting nice comments - thanks for the email Steve. This makes it all worthwhile. Hopefully you will find Moses in the cemetery! Anxiety levels start to grow about preserving all this digital data. Everywhere you turn has got a different view about the longevity of the information. I may well splash out on 2 1T portable drives. Less work than cd's, probably just as reliable but considerably less hassle.

Good day with the camera today. 3 sites photographed. The Catholic Church is really nice and the inscriptions photogenic and really well sited.

The Parish church, quite frankly has lost its appeal, The nave chopped in 3, The memorials are behind a "fence" hard to photograph. Lots of info though. Photographed the outside of Raikes Parade. Very interesting especially the house opposite. Needs research - apparently I have to write to the major to obtain permission to photograph the memorial.

Manage to cycle 33 miles in 1 day, quite kd the following day. Quite frankly training is rubbish.

Had an invite from the Imperial War museum to be a researcher - highlight of week. And also the Commonwealth War Graves Commision are putting a link on their site to Lazy... too. All things considered a good week.

Photo hunting

I had realised that I had done a poor job at St Helen's church in Churchtown so I revisited. Found the fragment of the southern cross. Tilting at a crazy angle. More pix of the other cross in the graveyard and a rather interesting "head" on a wall. Took more pictures of the Market Cross too. never realised that there was a sundial on the top.

Revisited St Michaels on Wyre too. Interesting sundial in the south side of the church, also some worked stone by the west wall. Highlighted in the blog.

Photographed the cross on the A6 - this is recognised in the book.
This post will be worked on in the next couple of days with links. I hadn't realised how much interesting information lies Over Wyre.

The Challenge

Well I haven't actually committed myself yet... but the London Edinburgh 1400 kilometre ride sure seems like the real deal next July (2013). Ramping out several miles a day is a good background, although the legs are pretty tired. The idea of doing 150 miles a day over 5 days seems like quite a tough deal.

There seems to be several bits of work to be done to the bike. A dynohub at the front and lighting too seems like a good idea. It can come off and be fitted to the commuter bike. The people whose use them seem to be able to  disregard the drag factor. How does it compare with carrying batteries. My heaviest items of moving weight are probably my shoes. Targets include the Mary Townley Route, The Fred Whitton, and the Pendle Way too. That's on a bike. The Fellsman 2013 and assorted LDWA events will all be parts of the toughening up. A colleague of mine admittedly younger has completed the End to End quite successfully - admittedly the weather was great and the wind was following but a great run.

Highfield School, a run, and a whoopsie with the camper!

Well its actually going to happen. Highfield School is being flattened and replaced with a brand new spanker. The school is now starting to overshadow the old school and is on 3 stories. Walked round the school on the 4th of May, they had an open day where ex pupils could visit. Spotted a fair number of current students - most surprised to see me there!

Remarkably good condition. They have been preserved from the elements by an outer
covering of glass. Amazingly it seems that none are damaged!

Possible just to see the stained glass in the upper lights.
Fortunately or just good fortune the light from outside was balanced by the flash.
There were 2 large rooms that had stained glass in the upper lights.

However I was cornered by Mr Evans the Head. Explained my purpose. Remarked that I had not been able to complete the photos of some of the stained glass. He moved curtains for me. He did seem surprised that the Roll of Honour had never been acknowledged as existing. I had hoped that there was one. The school had been built before WW2.The Roll of Honour/Memorial will be on the Memorials blog. There will of course be a Jol's Datastore too.

Its good to hear that the wonderful stained glass and the memorial as well as some of the stone work will be installed in the new build.  A fine chap Mr Evans. I particularly liked the stone door frames too. I think one of those is going to be preserved too



Got the running bug again. Nailed Gollum and felt OK! Sounds pretty painful, but for those who know....

Millie the ancient camper is teasing me again. As soon as I cure the leak in the sink the piggin' thing refuses to pump water so I can really check it. AArgh...

After the Fun

2 days after the "Fun Run" dragged my weary body round a short course and Hey it didn't feel too bad.

This was the same day as all the rain. Only a third finished the Fellsman and that was because they were not at the front. Weather was appalling. There is no way I would have completed.

College Fun Run

Well it used to be my thing, but the big hills seduced me. Whoever said it was the first college fun run of course had been misinformed. At least the third that I can remember. There was one on the Seafront by the Gynn, one also by Butlins. I recall the former Principal taking part. Reg and I ran a lot together. Way back in the late '60's there were some fine athletes at the college - indeed the College even had a sports day! Won the Steeplechase and represented the college at the Lancashire Schools too. They were the days before Bispham. I ran some great times on the old cinder track at Stanley Park in the days of Squadron Leader Brooks.

Friday however was different really very disappointing - something like 30 minutes. Oh Well........ perhaps I will start training for next year - The older I get the better I was...

There is a chair leg on the track - that is unthinkable, times have changed.

I was going to carry the camera but I shoved it in the hands of the redoubtable Ramsay and attempted to catch the disappearing pack. Always late!

My last two times on the track were at the Mid Lanc's championships a couple of years ago when I point scored for Lytham Road Runners in the Javelin and also completing the Manchester to Blackpool racewalk in 2007. One of my best ever finishes.
